McAllister Week 2 Arguments based on emotion pathos

Cheerios are a popular product that has been around for decades. Cheerios’ advertisements appeal to everyone, especially families. Cheerios advertisements are bright sunny yellow, giving the viewer a feeling of happiness. The ads are simple and to the point. The advertisement embraces cheerios’ history and popularity among families, making the viewers feel comforted and nostalgic towards their pasts. The ads also promote the healthiness of their cereal with a heart shaped bowl. Hearts are comforting symbols in that they represent love and friendship.  In the television advertisement, an American family is depicted, once again making viewers feel love, connecting their family experience to the cereal. Being inside the home makes the viewers feel cozy and at home, and this is also associated with the cereal.

  1. So true! You are so right about how the plain yellow color is an effective quality. It is refreshing among all the ads and cartoons and mascots on all of the other cereal brands. Cheerio's calls us back to simplicity.
