The video by The Humane Society International uses pathos to make the audience
want to donate money to their organization in order to help end the dog meat
trade that goes on all around the world. They use this by stating that the dogs
in the meat trade are just like our dogs at home and how dog butchers will
take other peoples’ pet dogs and put them in the trade. Since we as Americans view dogs as a man's best friend and since most Americans own at least one pet
dog, we can instantly feel the pain of what it would be like to lose our
beloved companion or see them in pain. The video also includes pictures of the
horrible conditions that the dogs are kept in before they are brutally
butchered and eaten by the public, which simply intensifies our feelings of
pain and guilt of how more dogs will have to live short traumatic lives if we don’t
either donate money or find a way to help them.
Those pictures themselves are horrifying! They certainly grab one's attention. Do you agree with marketing that uses such graphic images?
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with the marketing of using these graphic images because in order to fully understand what these animals are going through, we as human beings need to be able to have access to these types of images. I believe that a picture is worth a thousand words and in order to get the full effect and the reality check of these awful things that are happening in the world, I think that it is good to put out as much information and imagery as possible.
ReplyDeleteI really like the use of imagery. I think that it provokes a lot of emotion for the viewers and definitely brings more attention and awareness to the treatment of animals, thus making people want to donate to the cause of preventing this treatment because it is painful to see.
